Current Research suggests that Full Spectrum CBD, Arnica and Boswellia (Boswellic Acids) may provide a healthy inflammatory response.  Studies on the topical effects of CBD show that it may be useful in treating inflammation caused by a variety of conditions (Wikipedia). For example, according to scientists at Future Science in the United Kingdom, cannabinoids down regulate cytokine and chemokine production and, in some models, up regulate T-regulatory cells, as a mechanism to suppress inflammatory responses.*7

“In fact, Cytokines play a major role in pathologic pain or pain caused by injuries. They can aggravate pain from simple muscle injuries like muscle strain, cramps, and spasms, and cytokines can also worsen neuropathic pain associated with multiple sclerosis, diabetes, cancer, and sciatica."*

The Cannabidiol, or CBD in our formula is an extraction of Organic hemp providing a Full Spectrum Topical CBD. Our lab tests show that it contains all of the diverse beneficial cannabinoids and compounds, including natural terpenes. There is mounting evidence that extracts which contain all of the variations of CBD compounds offers more powerful relief than an isolate of CBD. This beneficial "Entourage Effect among Cannibidoids" was first described in 1999, by Israeli researcher, Raphael Mechoulam, nominated for the prestigious Rothschild Prize.*6

The Arnica Montana, in this formula was extracted with a slow, low heat extraction method, utilizing only organically grown Arnica flowers, extracted in organic cold-pressed olive oil. This process is guided by highly skilled herbalists. Well known for its effectiveness in reducing inflammation, Arnica is a helpful topical as first aid for trauma. It has been suggested that the sesquiterpene lactone, Helenalin found in Arnica extracts, may serve to help active ingredients penetrate skin layers at the site of inflammation. These active compounds may reduce the pain by penetrating the cell membranes of white blood cells that are attracted by inflammatory processes, actually preventing them from releasing additional pro-inflammatory cytokines.*4

Boswellia, commonly known as Frankincense, has been used in Ayurvedic healing and herbal preparations for thousands of years, particularly for pain, arthritis and inflammatory conditions. Today, as awareness of its powerful medicinal properties is on the rise, the Frankincense Tree is currently endangered from over-harvesting and increasing global demand. The Boswellia in this product was extracted from sustainably harvested Frankincense, by a Master Herbalist of 30 years experience, committed to Fair Trade and sustainable harvesting.

Boswellic acids, also known as Acetyl-11-keto-beta-boswellic acid (AKBA), are considered the active compounds found in certain types of Frankincense. These Acetyl-boswellic acids exhibit anti-inflammatory behavior by inhibiting leukotriene synthesis."*3 It is known to reduce swelling in cases of chronic inflammatory conditions, such as arthritis. Boswellic Acids are considered NSAIDS or Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs, showing promise in the treatment of many chronic inflammatory conditions."*3

This product contains a 'substantial, therapeutically active proportion' of Boswellic acid, extracted for maximum bio-availability from Boswellia Carterii, known for its significant Boswellic acid (35-65%) content. Utilizing a natural, water based extraction process, the result is a bio-available, highly absorptive topical that penetrates deeply into to the source of the pain.

Medium Chain Triglyceride (MCT) Coconut oil, is a fractionated, liquid form of coconut oil, which is an ideal viscosity and texture for massage and bodywork. It is also an effective carrier oil for penetrating absorption, to deliver these three powerful remedies more directly into sore and inflamed muscles. The Medium Chain Triglycerides in MCT Coconut oil, such as Caprylic, Capric and Lauric acid are also deeply nourishing to the skin.

Essential oil of French Lavender has anti-bacterial & anti-fungal  properties, and are also used in the formula as natural preservatives.  French Lavender essential oil is also known for its therapeutic effect in bringing full relaxation of mind and body.
